The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2015 is screening the film “One Floor Below / Un Etaj Mai Jos” (Romania/France/Germany/Sweden 2015) directed by Radu Muntean as part of the Contemporary World Cinema programme. The film is produce by Dragos Vilcu, and stars Teodor Corban, Iulian Postelnicu, and Oxana Moravec.
Synopsis
In this brilliantly executed slow-burn thriller from Romanian director Radu Muntean, a family man who witnessed the prelude to a murder determines to keep his mouth shut and mind his own business — until the possible killer turns up at his door one day and begins to ingratiate himself into the lives of his wife and son.
Director
Radu Muntean was born in Bucharest, where he graduated from the Academy of Theatre and Film. His directorial debut, The Rage (03), was followed by The Paper Will Be Blue (06), Boogie (08), Tuesday, After Christmas (10), and the documentary Vorbitor (11), co-directed with Alexandru Baciu. One Floor Below (15) is his latest film.
