Lucian Bute will square off against Jean Pascal at the Bell Centre, on January 18th, 2014, in a light heavyweight fight for the WBC Diamond title. The match was originally scheduled for Saturday, May 25th, 2013, but was postponed due to Lucian Bute’s left hand injury.
This will be a dream match for all boxing fans in Québec as the two former world champions will step into the ring to determine which one is the best of the best in Montreal! Don’t miss this historic once-in-a-lifetime moment!
It’s the biggest fight in Canadian history since 1980, when Roberto Durán won a 15-round decision to win the welterweight world title in his first fight against Sugar Ray Leonard at Montreal’s Olympic Stadium in front of 46,000 spectators. Bute, who is fighting out of Montreal, versus Pascal is pitting the two biggest draws and most popular fighters in Canadian boxing who are considered huge stars in Quebec.
