Every year, on March 8, Romanians cerebrate International Women’s Day (IWD), and Mother’s Day.
In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women’s economic, political and social achievements.
For Romanians March 8 is a national celebration (but not an official holiday). So while the world celebrates IWD, think of March 8 as Mother’s Day in Romania, and you will understand its significance.
